                 Fly fishing can be a fun way to fish for the first time or it can present a new experience for seasoned anglers. Anyone, ages 12 years and older with an interest in learning the basics of fly fishing equipment, knot tying, casting techniques and on the water skills is welcome. It is the perfect opportunity to learn fly fishing basics and meet other fly anglers. All equipment is provided. Those under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. NOTE: the fishing license requirement is waived during the program for participants age 16 and older. About the Event PRE-REGISTRATION required. Register by 5/13/22 Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly fish? Join Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) staff and Fishing Skills Instructors (FSI) for this FREE, TWO-PART program, designed to introduce you to the basics of fly fishing through a virtual component and an in-person component! PART 1 = Virtual � The virtual component will run on May 11, 2022 from 6:30p.m. - 8:30p.m. PART 1 of the program is held virtually with PFBC staff and PFBC FSIs. During the virtual program instructors cover following topics - � Fly Fishing gear � Knots to know � Aquatic insects and artificial fly comparisons � Two important casts � Reading the water � Hooking, landing, and releasing fish � Logistics for the in-person component of the program PART 2 = In-person will be held at on May 22, 2022 from 9a.m. to 12p.m. The in-person component of the program provides participants the opportunity to review the skills they learned virtually and apply them, while fishing alongside PFBC staff, and FSIs. Fly fishing gear and instruction is provided for the duration of the program at no cost to participants! Participants who register and attend the program, will receive a fly fishing packet at the in-person portion of the program and additional fly fishing resources via email.
